The Market Access Team is made up of representatives from the European Union (EU) Member State Embassies based in Wellington, the NZ-Europe Business Council and the Delegation of the European Union.
Ensuring market access for EU companies abroad is important for growth and employment in Europe. As part of a major review of the EU's trade policy (under the banner of "Global Europe"), the European Commission launched a communication in April 2007 aiming to improve market access for EU companies. This was adopted by the European Council on 8th June 2007.
At the core of the new strategy is the idea of utilizing the knowledge and resources of EU Member State Embassies and their trade representatives, European business organisations and European Union Delegations abroad to identify and, where possible, tackle market access issues.
The sole purpose of the Market Access Team is to gain better access to the New Zealand market for EU products and services. Companies and business associations are welcome to contact us if they are experiencing any difficulties.
